Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Iran
The enforcement of a foreign court judgment issued abroad can be carried out in Iran in accordance with domestic legal regulations. Under Iranian law, judgments issued by foreign courts are enforceable in Iran if the following conditions are met:
- The case is not exclusively within the jurisdiction of Iranian courts.
- The judgment does not relate to illegal property located in Iran and its rights.
Required Documents for Filing a Foreign Judgment in Iran
To file for enforcement of a foreign court judgment in Iran, the following documents are mandatory or optional:
- Certified copy of the foreign court judgment (optional)
- Official and certified translation of the judgment in Persian (optional)
- Certified copy of the certificate by the Iranian political representative or consul in the issuing country, or by the official representative and consul of the issuing country in Iran, for the enforcement order of competent authorities (optional)
- Official certified translation in Persian (optional)
- Certificate of signature by the foreign country’s political representative, confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran (optional)
- National ID card for identification and a bank card to pay legal fees (mandatory)
